I'm Done Renting Space

It's amazing what can happen in a week.
Five days ago...one business week...I made a decision that probably seemed insignificant to most people—I decided to take a break from Facebook. There wasn't a dramatic announcement, no grand farewell, and certainly no expectation that the world would stop turning. I simply felt it was time. Looking back now, I'm surprised by how much can change when you remove one of the biggest sources of distraction from your daily life. The silence that initially felt unfamiliar quickly became something I began to appreciate. My days seem so much longer, my thoughts became clearer, and I found myself creating far more than I was consuming.
That isn't a criticism of social media...Yuh know what...maybe it is, but in many ways, I still owe a great deal to it. Facebook has introduced me to wonderful clients, lifelong friends, fellow artists, content creators, a whole bunch of "Saved Lists" with TONS of recipes that I have yet to try and opportunities that I may never have experienced otherwise. It has allowed me to share my photography, encourage others, celebrate milestones with families, and connect with people from all over the world. I'll always be grateful for the role it has played in my journey.
But somewhere along the way, I realized I'd become comfortable building on borrowed land.
Every photograph I carefully edited, every painting I proudly shared, every thoughtful reflection I spent time writing would enjoy a brief moment in the spotlight before quietly disappearing beneath the next wave of posts. It wasn't that the work had suddenly become less meaningful; it was simply swallowed by an endless timeline that never stops moving. I actually sat and started calculating the approximate hours of my life that had been invested creating things that were designed to be forgotten by tomorrow (it's definitely a facepalm moment.)
As I spent more time away from the constant stream of opinions, headlines, arguments, and notifications, another realization slowly surfaced. I wasn't just reclaiming my time—I was reclaiming my attention. Those two things aren't always the same. Time can pass whether we're intentional or not, but attention is one of the most valuable things we possess. Once it's given away, we rarely get it back.
I also found myself thinking about a verse I'd heard countless times growing up: MATCHEW SEHWIN WERSE SIX (pardon my Bahamianese) "Do not cast your pearls before swine." For years I interpreted it through the wrong lens. Today, it means something very different to me. I no longer hear it as a statement about other people; I hear it as a reminder to value what is precious. Our creativity, our peace, our ideas, our energy, and our attention are all pearls in their own way. They shouldn't be thrown carelessly into places that neither appreciate nor nurture them.
That realization became the foundation for this website. Sure, I've had a website for just about 13 years now but the old platform I was on didn't have the necessary tools to tie in EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of my creative and "all over the place" mind. And my pockets wouldn't allow for me to pay the endless subscription costs to host EVERY wild idea I had floating in between my ears.
This isn't simply a place to advertise my photography, nor is it another social media profile with a different address. It's something I've wanted for a very long time—a place where every part of my creative life can live together under one roof.
patrickROBINSONS Photography & Designs will always be at the heart of what I do, preserving moments that people will cherish for generations. Center Stage 360 captures the excitement and celebration that come with life's biggest events. #DearMirror has become my most personal artistic journey, documenting both the paintings themselves and the deeper reflections behind them as I prepare for my first solo exhibition. The Lousy Artist reminds me that creativity often grows from unexpected places and that even careless words can be transformed into something meaningful. My Morning Sip continues to be the quiet corner where I have shared for about a year, reflections on life, growth, and perspective...and who knows, one day I may revive it. And this blog? This is simply where I'll think out loud. Some days we'll talk about creativity. Other days photography, business, art, faith, personal growth, or whatever happens to be occupying my mind over a cup of coffee.
Everything has finally found a home together.
One of the things I've enjoyed most this past week is realizing how much can happen when your mind isn't constantly being pulled in a dozen different directions. I've painted more. I've written more. I've planned more. Ideas that had been sitting dormant for months suddenly began connecting with one another. Instead of reacting to everyone else's thoughts, I finally had the space to listen to my own. That alone has made this past week one of the most productive and refreshing I've had in a long time.
As you explore the website, you'll probably notice that not every page is complete yet, and that's intentional. Like any meaningful project, this one is still under construction, and I don't mind people seeing the imperfections and unfinished work because life isn't perfect. Life isn't complete. Life doesn't stop while we build our dreams. I'm still photographing, still creating artwork and planning for #DearMirror, still writing, still learning, and still living. Over the coming weeks and months you'll see new galleries, new stories, new artwork, and new ideas gradually appear as each room of this house is finished. I could have waited until everything was perfect before opening the doors, but perfection has a funny way of keeping dreams locked away. I'd rather invite you in now and let you experience the journey as it unfolds.
If you've found your way here, thank you. Whether you arrived because of a photograph, a painting, a recommendation from a friend, or simple curiosity, I'm genuinely glad you're here. My hope is that this becomes more than just another website you visit once and forget. I hope it becomes a place you return to from time to time—a place where you'll find something that makes you smile, makes you think, inspires you to create, or simply reminds you to slow down for a while.
For years, I poured my heart into spaces I would never truly own. They served their purpose, and I'm grateful for them, but I've reached a point where I want to build something that lasts beyond tomorrow's timeline.
I'm done renting space.
This home is open to everyone. If you think someone would enjoy it here, I'd be grateful if you shared the link.
